Driving Directions
If you encounter difficulty finding us, call Bill Ward at 650 279-9904 (cell).
By Train
BART riders, transfer to Caltrain at Millbrae. Or, take a SamTrans bus to the Belmont train station: routes
390,
391,
397,
KX, and
PX all connect between various BART stations and Belmont.
Take
Caltrain (
Weekday Schedule, PDF) to the Belmont station. See below for directions on how to get to the meeting from the station.
- Northbound trains (from San Jose) arrive at 5:38 (#271) and 6:30 (#281).
- Southbound trains (from San Francisco) arrive at 5:14 (#266) and 6:14 (#276).
Note that express and baby bullet trains skip the Belmont station, so if you are on one of those trains, get off at Redwood City (northbound) or either San Mateo or Hillsdale (southbound) and take the next local train.
After the meeting:
- Southbound trains (toward San Jose) depart at 9:05 (#192) and 10:40 (#194).
- Northbound trains (toward San Francisco) depart 8:56 (#191), 9:56 (#193), and 11:16 (#195).
It is very important that you get on the right train. Since trains could be running late, don't just use the schedule to determine which train to board. The last two digits of the train number are displayed on the rear-view mirror of the locomotive (southbound trains) or the front cab car (northbound trains). If in doubt, ask the conductor when the train stops. If you get on an express train that skips your station, you could be significantly delayed!!
Getting from Belmont Caltrain Station to the Meeting

There are several options:
- Walk or bicycle to the meeting from the Caltrain station by proceeding down Ralston Ave and entering the Twin Pines Park driveway.
- Send mail to members@penlug.org before the meeting to ask for a ride.
- Ride the bus: route 260 (see below).
It's about 0.3 miles' walk according to
Google directions, but it should actually be a bit less, since the entrance is further east than the indication on the Google map.
By Bus
Belmont is in San Mateo County and bus service is provided by
SamTrans (
System Map, PDF).
The closest public transit route to Twin Pines is
Route 260 (
Map, PDF) which stops on Ralston near the Twin Pines Park complex. The last run of the day leaves the San Carlos Caltrain station at 6:12pm, meanders around Redwood Shores, stops at the Belmont Caltrain station at 6:35pm, and then stops at Twin Pines a few minutes later. Although there is no return bus service home after the meeting, you can almost certainly expect a member to offer a ride. Send mail to
members@penlug.org and ask if someone can take you home or to a train station or bus stop after the meeting.
Other buses that serve the Belmont Caltrain station (running up and down El Camino Real) are the
262,
390,
391,
397,
KX, and
PX routes. See above for instructions on getting from the train station to the meeting.
IHOP
We do not adjourn to
IHOP after our meetings any more. We have the room until 10pm for social / networking time. Feel free to arrive late to the meeting if you want to hang out with us.
